SallyP has been having a hard time understanding JLA 159. To explain, Jonah's horse can fly (without wings) and his six-shooter fires some sort of energy beam. Also, he can take an uppercut from Hawkman & not flinch. Why? Cuz this is the Jonah from Earth-27? Cauz the Lord of Time gave the heroes from the past some sort of super-powers? Cuz Gerry Conway was huffing when he wrote this?
Anyway, here is the evidence.
The goggles! They do nothing! Superman's eyebeams are bouncing off a biplane! I mean, I know that quality control was probably better then, but that's just ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteDid it ever occur to Jonah that his horse suddenly being able to fly might be...odd?
I stand by my first belief, that the creators of this particular jem were completely out of their minds.
Son of a biscuit...I got that issue a month or two ago, and am still cheesed I don't have the conclusion. (At the same thrift shop, I got another old JLA, an Adam Strange number with a Neal Adam's cover, and no conclusion there either.)
ReplyDeleteIf I recall, time travelling badguy gives super asskicking power to random characters pulled from the past, to kick the snot out of random JLA/JSA members. Hows and whys are in short supply here.
Don't woory googum, I'll try to scan all of the next issue in all of it's horrid glory.
ReplyDeleteSallyp, you had better not look, your head will explode like Guy Gardner's buttocks after a 3-hour Taco Bell gorge-a-thon.
Hey Canoe boy! Guy has a digestive system of steel! If he can eat Ollie's chili and live, he can eat anything!
