According to
Forbes, it only made back 24% of it's production cost. Wow, what a way not only to kill a franchise, but dig it up, bring it back to life, kill it again and again and again. I don't think we'll see Jonah Hex on the big screen until 10 years after the new Catwoman film comes out.
The entire list?
- Jonah Hex - worst
- Extraordinary Measures
- Repo Men
- Scott Pilgrim vs The World
- Let Me In
- Splice
- MacGruber
- Green Zone
- Furry Vengence
- From Paris With Love
- Charlie St. Cloud
- Edge of Darkness
Well, I'm hoping True Grit does better when it is released.
At least it won something!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Dwayne. :)
Did the Razzies come out yet? Those are the ones that really sting, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the film was a disappointment on a lot of levels. I did come across the link below on a fairly intelligent blog that had some surprisingly good things to say.

We're number One! Or...er...not.
ReplyDeleteThe best part is when I mention this movie to anyone, nobody has heard of it. Honestly, nobody! There may be a chance for a reboot within this century.
ReplyDeleteOn that note, yesterday I skimmed an interview with Josh Brolin in the January 2011 issue of "Cowboys and Indians" magazine, and while it mentions every single Western he's ever worked on (going all the way back to "The Young Riders" TV show) I didn't see Hex mentioned at all. Not sure if this means Brolin's going to disavow the work like Kevin Bacon used to do with "Friday the 13th", but that exclusion stings a bit.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I checked out that blog link, and the guy hits the nail on the head regarding my own feelings towards the film. Plus it's a great blog name: "Sergio Leone and the Infield Fly Rule". I have no idea what that means, but it sounds like sheer poetry! :)
I watched it again today based on the review from "Sergio Leone and the Infield Fly Rule." Strangely enough, I liked it better than I did the first time. It's flawed and the James Bond plot line is junk, but the character does come through at times. There are many ways this could have been a better film and we all know most of them, but on second look I was entertained and enjoyed the ride this time.
